The YMCA Early Learning Center at Millworks (on the waterfront) is searching for a new Assistant Preschool Teacher. This new teacher will work in our Preschool 2 classroom with up to 20 children (ages 3-4) and 3 teachers. This is a full time position , 40 hours per week, and will be full day shifts. Some of the shifts may be 6:30 am-3:00 pm and some of the shifts may be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. We are seeking candidates who are warm and nurturing and love the preschool years. Applicants should have some experience working with children in groups (preferably ages 2-5) and are comfortable setting boundaries with young children and maintaining a classroom structure. Preschoolers need consistency and boundaries in their day, but they also need teachers who love spending time with them and engaging groups in interesting activities. QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate (or equivalent). Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Current CPR (Adult, Infant & Child) and First Aid, AED certifications. Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire.
