PSTC serves refugees, immigrants, low-income individuals, and job seekers throughout King County through training programs, employment services, and supportive partnerships. Position Summary The Instructional Assistant supports PSTC's training classes by assisting instructors, supporting participant success, and helping maintain a positive and productive learning environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring participants receive the support necessary to successfully complete training, earn certifications, and prepare for employment opportunities. The Instructional Assistant serves as an important resource for participants by providing classroom support, administrative assistance, job readiness guidance, and encouragement throughout the training process. In the event the instructor is absent, the IA will step in to provide instruction and lead additional activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Classroom & Training Support Assist instructor during classroom and hands-on training activities. Prepare instructional materials, handouts, and classroom resources with the instructor. Set up training spaces, equipment, and learning environments with the instructor. Monitor participant attendance and participation. Assist with classroom management and participant engagement. Support instructors in maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. Provide instruction in the event the instructor is absent. Participant Support Provide one-on-one assistance to participants as needed. Assist participants with assignments, assessments, and learning activities. Encourage participant engagement and successful completion of training requirements. Promote a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Employment Readiness Support Assist with resume development and employment applications as needed. Support job readiness workshops and career preparation activities as needed. Conduct mock interview activities and employment preparation exercises as needed. Help participants understand workplace expectations and professional conduct. Collaborate with program staff to ensure client goals are met. Data Collection & Documentation Assist instructors with maintaining participant files and records. Collect participant data per reporting requirements. Assist with enrollment paperwork and required program documentation. Assist with tracking participant milestones, certifications, and outcomes. Support program staff in obtaining required documentation from participants. Additional Duties Provide PSTC tours to interested individuals. Assist with the enrollment process for Private Pay & Labor & Industries participants. Support job fairs, PSTC events, and community outreach activities as assigned. Attend staff meetings and training opportunities as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Current OSHA Forklift Certification card or 2 years experience operating a forklift. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 1-2 years experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds in an educational/training setting. Basic computer and data entry skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting adult learners in a training or education based environment. Knowledge of warehouse, logistics, or forklift operations. Bilingual or multilingual abilities preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 3:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break. For a total of 30 hours per week.
Starting wage:
$24.00/HR.
