WATERTOWN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT VACANCY NOTICE 4K INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONALS LOCATION
Douglas & Schurz Elementary Schools
START DATE
Start date: August 25, 2026 (meetings), September 1, 2026 (orientation)
HOURS:
5.75 hours/day, Schedules vary depending on the needs of the students
SALARY RATE
$17.13 per hour - Grade E - Step 1 JOB
DESCRIPTION
We are accepting applications for 4K paraprofessionals for the 2026-27 school year. The paraprofessional will work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher and the building principal. The job duties of paraprofessionals vary depending on the needs of the teachers and students.
The position involves:
  • Supporting the classroom teacher with instruction;
  • Assisting students to remain on-task, completing assignments, and performing classroom activities;
  • Maintaining discipline and fostering positive student interactions; and
  • Year-round outdoors recess supervision.
QUALIFICATONS
This position requires the candidate to have a high school diploma in addition to meeting "highly qualified" standards of of the following:
  • Two years or more of study at an institute of higher education (completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent of trimester hours),
  • Associate or higher degree,
  • Passing a test to demonstrate the knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Desire for building and maintaining a positive, inclusive playground program utilizing evidence-based strategies through Playworks.
  • Upon hire, employee will be required to participate in the Paraprofessional Training Program.
Qualified candidates should possess:
A passion for working with elementary school aged students; A positive attitude that will contribute to a welcoming atmosphere; Strong communication skills; Excellent attendance history in previous employment.
