Job Description

The Peer Tutor for the College of Health Sciences provides academic support to fellow students by helping them understand course material, develop effective study strategies, and build confidence as learners. Peer Tutors serve as positive role models and promote a collaborative, supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide individual and/or small-group tutoring to College of Health Sciences students Assist students with understanding course concepts, assignments, and study materials Help students develop effective study, organization, time-management, and test-taking strategies Reinforce concepts presented by course instructors without completing assignments or coursework for students Encourage students to become independent and confident learners Maintain a professional, respectful, and welcoming tutoring environment Communicate regularly with the Learning Resource Center (LRC) regarding tutoring activities and student needs Maintain appropriate records of tutoring sessions, including attendance and services provided Participate in required tutor training, meetings, and professional development Refer students to appropriate faculty, academic support services, counseling, or other university resources when additional assistance is needed Follow all university, College of Health Sciences, and Learning Resource Center policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in the College of Health Sciences, required Demonstrate strong academic performance in the course(s) or subject area(s) for which tutoring is provided, required Demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant course content, required Dependable, Responsible, and punctual, required Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, required Able to explain concepts clearly and work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism, required Previous tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or leadership experience, preferred Recommendation from a faculty member, preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills, preferred Willingness to complete peer tutor training, preferred For initial application submit: Resume Non-discrimination statement: Faulkner University is a church-affiliated liberal arts institution committed to employing a highly qualified and diverse administration, faculty and staff, which reflects the University's religious traditions, values and affiliation, and purpose.
