At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Long Beach, CA ! Role:
As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in
Long Beach, CA Details:
In-Person Tutoring in
Long Beach, CA Schedule:
6 hours per month; 1x weekly for an hour and a half Rate is between $25 and $35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
Trained in or highly familiar with the Orton-Gillingham approach Experience working with students with dyslexia, ADHD, and speech delays Strong background in foundational literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness and phonics Skilled in supporting reading fluency, comprehension, and writing development Experience teaching foundational math skills using structured and engaging methods Patient, bubbly, and engaging while maintaining clear structure and expectations Strong communication skills with the ability to slow down instruction and provide supportive clarification Familiar with test preparation strategies for elementary learners Comfortable using multisensory instruction and repetition-based learning techniques Able to build confidence and reduce frustration during challenging academic tasks
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy and foundational math skills Implement Orton-Gillingham-based strategies to support phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and reading fluency Strengthen reading comprehension through guided reading, vocabulary support, and comprehension discussions Support writing development, including sentence structure, grammar, organization, and written expression Teach foundational math concepts using visual supports, repetition, and hands-on learning activities Incorporate test preparation and skill reinforcement into tutoring sessions Use patient, structured communication strategies to support expressive language and reduce frustration Create engaging, multisensory lessons that maintain attention and build academic confidence Incorporate the student's interests, including water-related activities, to support rapport and engagement Monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet evolving academic and communication needs Why Tutor Me Education?
