Job Description
City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Responsibilities Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to K-12 students in partnership with classroom teachers Support literacy and math interventions through small-group and one-on-one sessions Monitor, track, and report student progress using school and City Year tools Foster positive relationships that promote student engagement, attendance, and social-emotional growth Collaborate with a diverse team to plan service activities and support whole-school initiatives Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with staff and families as needed to support student success Required Skills Student assessment Lesson planning Academic tutoring (math, ELA) Classroom management support Data entry & progress tracking Behavior intervention support Small-group instruction Educational technology tools Family & teacher communication Time management
