About Pivotal Therapy Pivotal Therapy provides individualized support services for children, adolescents, and families in the South Miami area. Our team works with families to support children's development, learning, and day-to-day success. We are currently seeking a dependable, engaging, and enthusiastic Academic Coach to provide individualized reading, math, and homework support for students from elementary through high school. Position Overview The Academic Coach will provide one-on-one academic support to students who would benefit from additional assistance with reading, mathematics, study skills, and homework completion. This position may be a good fit for an educator, tutor, graduate student, or college student studying education, psychology, child development, or a related field who enjoys working individually with children and adolescents. The position will begin with a small caseload, with the potential for additional hours as student enrollment increases. Responsibilities Provide individualized academic support to students. Assist students with reading and mathematics skills. Support homework completion, school assignments, projects, and test preparation when appropriate. Help students practice and strengthen foundational academic skills. Follow instructional materials and guidance provided by Pivotal Therapy. Record basic student performance information during sessions. Maintain organized student records and session documentation. Share relevant student progress or concerns with Pivotal Therapy leadership. Complete required student documentation and progress summaries. Prepare instructional materials as needed. Create a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment. Communicate professionally with students, parents, and team members. Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality for scheduled sessions.
Qualifications Required:
Strong understanding of elementary-level reading and mathematics. Comfortable working individually with children and adolescents. Patient, dependable, engaging, and able to build positive relationships with students. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow structured instructional materials and document student progress. Reliable transportation. Consistent availability during after-school hours. Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or current college enrollment in Education, Psychology, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field. Previous tutoring, teaching, childcare, or academic support experience. Experience supporting students with different learning needs. Experience with reading instruction, phonics, math fluency, or direct instruction. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Schedule This is a part-time, after-school position .
Primary availability needed:
Monday-Friday, approximately 3:00 PM-7:00 PM Candidates do not need to be available every weekday. Consistent weekly availability is preferred. Additional evening or weekend opportunities may become available as student enrollment increases. Compensation $25-$28 per hour , based on education, experience, qualifications, and assigned responsibilities. The position will initially have a limited number of weekly hours, with the opportunity to increase hours as additional students enroll. Ideal Candidate The ideal Academic Coach enjoys helping students learn and is able to explain academic concepts in simple, manageable steps. We are looking for someone who is patient, encouraging, organized, dependable, and comfortable following structured instructional materials while documenting student progress. Reliability is especially important because students are scheduled for consistent weekly sessions. Work Location In person in the Miami/South Miami area.
