Independent Contractor Empowered Tutoring is growing, and we are looking for compassionate, dependable, and engaging tutors to join our team! We provide individualized academic and social-emotional support for K-12 students, with a strong commitment to serving neurodivergent learners, multilingual learners, and students who may need a different approach to learning than they receive in a traditional classroom. Who We're Looking For More than anything, we are looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with young people and understand that every child learns differently. Many of the students we serve have ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, or other learning differences. Tutors do not need to be experts in every area, but they must be willing to learn, adapt, and meet students where they are. Our tutors should be comfortable adjusting instruction, breaking tasks into manageable steps, incorporating movement or sensory breaks, supporting emotional regulation, building confidence, and recognizing that behavior often communicates an unmet need. Patience, flexibility, relationship-building, and a strengths-based approach are essential. Current Priority Needs We are urgently seeking: High School Math Tutors who are comfortable supporting upper-level math Spanish Tutors, including native or fluent Spanish speakers Tutors with Daytime Availability, particularly during traditional school hours Social Work / SEL Tutors who can provide individualized support with executive functioning, organization, coping skills, emotional regulation, confidence, friendship skills, and other social-emotional needs While these are our greatest current needs, we are always looking for great tutors in all subject areas and grade levels! What Tutors May Support Depending on your background and interests, you may work with students on reading, writing, math, science, Spanish, homework support, study skills, executive functioning, organization, coping and regulation skills, confidence, social skills, or other individualized goals. Tutoring is intentionally personalized. We are not looking for someone to simply sit beside a student while they complete worksheets. We want tutors who can build relationships, identify what helps a student learn, celebrate their strengths, and create an environment where students feel safe being themselves. Who Should Apply? We welcome applicants with backgrounds in education, special education, social work, psychology, counseling, child development, mathematics, Spanish, STEM, or related fields, as well as college students, graduate students, educators, and other professionals with relevant experience. Experience working with neurodivergent children is strongly preferred. However, we also value applicants who demonstrate a genuine willingness to learn about neurodiversity-affirming practices and adapt their approach to individual students. We especially value tutors who are: Patient, dependable, encouraging, flexible, and comfortable building relationships with children and families. Strong candidates understand that successful tutoring is not about forcing every student to learn the same way. It is about finding the approach that helps that student succeed.
