Job Description
SmartStart Education, LLC seeks K-5 Literacy Tutors to deliver high-quality, small-group reading instruction in partner schools. Tutors will use structured, standards-aligned literacy curricula, administer formative assessments, and track student progress. Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons, implementing reading interventions, collaborating with teachers and site coordinators, and maintaining accurate records. Ideal candidates have experience with K-5 learners, strong classroom management, and a passion for improving student outcomes in a mission-driven, educator-focused environment. Responsibilities Provide small-group and one-on-one K-5 literacy tutoring in partner schools Implement structured, standards-aligned reading curricula and interventions Administer formative assessments and monitor student progress over time Use data to adjust instruction and target specific literacy skills Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student goals Maintain accurate attendance, progress notes, and assessment records Create an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment Communicate student progress to site coordinators and, when appropriate, families Participate in training, coaching, and professional learning sessions Uphold school and Smart Start Education policies, including student safety and confidentiality Required Skills K-5 literacy instruction Reading intervention programs Small-group instruction Classroom management Progress monitoring Data-driven instruction Phonics and phonemic awareness Lesson planning Assessment administration Student and family communication
