Learning Power Academics is seeking an experienced High School Math & Science Tutor to join our academic tutoring team in Prior Lake, MN. We are specifically looking for a tutor with strong experience working with upper-level high school mathematics and science students . This is not a general elementary or middle school tutoring position. The ideal candidate is confident teaching advanced high school coursework and has at least 2 years of tutoring or instructional experience with high school-level math and science students . Our tutors work with students individually or in very small groups, providing personalized academic support, homework assistance, test preparation, study strategies, and concept reinforcement. Required Qualifications To be considered for this position, candidates must have: At least 2 years of tutoring, teaching, or direct instructional experience with high school-level math and science Strong knowledge of high school mathematics, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Precalculus Ability to confidently support upper-level high school science coursework, particularly Chemistry and/or Physics Ability to clearly explain complex concepts and adapt instruction to different learning styles Experience helping students with homework, test preparation, academic organization, and skill development Strong communication, reliability, and professionalism Ability to work in person at our Prior Lake learning center Preferred Qualifications We are especially interested in candidates who have experience with one or more of the following: Precalculus and advanced high school mathematics Chemistry Physics ACT Math and Science preparation College-level mathematics or science coursework High school classroom teaching Licensed teaching or previous teaching experience Working individually with students who need academic intervention, enrichment, or test preparation What You'll Do As a High School Math & Science Tutor, you will: Provide personalized academic tutoring to high school students Support students in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and other advanced math courses based on your expertise Provide support in Chemistry, Physics, and other high school sciences based on your background Help students complete and understand homework and upcoming assignments Prepare students for quizzes, unit tests, midterms, and final exams Identify skill gaps and provide additional instruction and practice Teach effective problem-solving and test-taking strategies Help students improve study skills, organization, and academic independence Review upcoming coursework and assignments through Schoology when appropriate Communicate student progress and academic needs with Learning Power Academics staff Provide ACT preparation when appropriate based on experience About Learning Power Academics Learning Power Academics is a private tutoring center in Prior Lake, Minnesota serving K-12 students through individualized academic instruction. Our goal is to provide students with highly personalized support rather than a one-size-fits-all tutoring program. Tutors work closely with students to strengthen foundational skills, address challenging coursework, prepare for assessments, and build confidence and independence. This position is an excellent fit for an experienced educator or tutor who enjoys working closely with high school students and wants a flexible, part-time teaching opportunity outside of a traditional classroom. Schedule Part-time Primarily weekday afternoon and evening hours School-year tutoring is generally scheduled Monday-Thursday between 3:00-7:00 PM Hours increase as additional students are enrolled and matched with the tutor Compensation $28.00-$33.00 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications. Tutors are paid based on scheduled instructional/tutoring hours. Ideal Candidate Our strongest candidate will be someone who can confidently sit down with an upper-level high school student and provide meaningful instruction in challenging math and science courses—not simply supervise homework. If you have a strong math/science background, at least two years of high school-level tutoring or teaching experience, and enjoy helping teenagers understand challenging academic material, we would love to hear from you.
