Job Description
Sylan of Rosemount, Minnesota, is looking to add a math tutor. Please do NOT apply if you cannot teach these math skills without using your phone or device. You must be one step ahead of the student and be able to explain/teach the concept without preparing for the tutoring session. You must be knowledgeable in Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus is a bonus. We could also use help with science. We cannot train you in the math you must know how to do the math. We are looking for someone who can help with math homework, tutor the math program, and possibly ACT/SAT math. Students range from elementary to high school. Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, seeks part-time teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Kindergarten through High School) at various levels to build confidence and independence, providing skills that will last a lifetime.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Sylvan Teacher is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience for students by teaching them using Sylvan program materials. The teacher creates balanced and robust learning experiences for students by evaluating student progress on each assignment, communicating this progress, and working with Center staff to ensure that learning is personal for each student.THIS IS FOR IN PERSON TUTORING AT THE LOCATION IN ROSEMOUNT, MN. Is on time so that you can be ready for the student to arrive Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each student Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs Manages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn Motivates students with Sylvan tokens given for specific achievements according to the Sylvan instructional management standards Records and tracks tokens earned by students Manages the conclusion of each instructional session and manages the completion of learning log and transition activities; Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being Communicates specific student needs to Center staff Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed Completes certification training on each Sylvan program taught to studentsKNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers:
A degree or equivalent preferred- we can discuss each sitution. State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired) Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension is preferred for reading teachersMath Program Teachers:
Four-year degree required in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college level mathSAT/ACT, Test Prep, and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers:
