POSITION SUMMARY

The Natchez-Adams School District is currently seeking qualified internal educators and external applicants for McKinney-Vento Academic Tutor positions. The primary purpose of these positions is to provide direct, targeted instructional support and academic intervention to students identified under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, as well as students seeking to strengthen achievement in core foundational subjects.

AVAILABLE TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES

English Language Arts (ELA) Tutor (Grades K-12): Provide targeted academic support and literacy intervention. Mathematics Tutor (Grades K-12): Provide foundational and advanced computational instructional support. Science Tutor (Grades K-12): Provide academic support and conceptual reinforcement in core science disciplines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver direct academic tutoring and instructional reinforcement aligned with Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards. Assess individual student academic needs and tailor support strategies in core subjects (ELA, Math, Science). Monitor, track, and support ongoing student academic progress and growth. Maintain strict student confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and all district operational procedures. Adhere to all McKinney-Vento program guidelines and NASD Board Policies. Perform related instructional duties as assigned by the Federal Programs Director.

Professional Development-Title X-McKinney-Vento Homeless Act Job Description/ General responsibilities: The general responsibilities of the Mckinney-Vento Homeless tutor are to provide intensive and extensive tutorial services for the Homeless students who scored Minimum or Basic on MCT2, failed Subject Area Test, and Homeless students using Dibels Assessment. The tutor, in order to assist the student in his/her education endeavors, will utilize the resources of the Natchez Adams School District. The tutor will provide feedback to Federal Programs Director regarding the progress the student is making. Specific duties and responsibilities are to: I. Provide academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group or individually. 2. Establish liaison with the teacher and work in classroom with the teacher, if necessary to assist the student. 3. Attend periodic training sessions given by a Federal Programs staff members to increase competency in working with students. 4. Be responsible for maintaining records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment. 5. Provide evaluations and other reports as requested by the Federal Programs Director. 6. Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying. 7. Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work. 8. Help students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas. 9. Assist students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas. 10. Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success. 11. Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student(s). 12. Serve as a role model for students being served. 13. Assist in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.
