Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals. This role involves working with high-school students, and requires high-level specialized knowledge in subjects such as Math or Reading/Writing/English. The Tutor will be responsible for using provided curriculum to assist in the making of engaging lesson plans and adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners. Responsibilities Use Huntington SAT materials to individualize sessions tailored to each student's learning style and academic needs. Provide instruction on SAT strategies, and instruction in either Math or Reading/Writing/English. Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment and keep students on-task. Assess student progress regularly, celebrate improvement, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to support student learning. Engage students through interactive activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate progress and updates to relevant stakeholders. Experience A background in education or tutoring is preferred. A background in SAT-level (or higher) Math or English/Reading/Writing is essential. Familiarity with using a provided curriculum and adapting it to students' needs when necessary is preferred. Strong teaching and classroom management skills to effectively guide students in their learning journey. Ability to write and use clear and concise educational materials to effectively enhance the learning experience. Experience working with diverse groups of learners at varying ability levels. Some weekday afternoon and/or Saturday morning availability is critical. Ability to tutor AP-level Math or English/Reading/Writing courses is a bonus! $16.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 2.0 - 20.0 per week
