Part-time; schedule and hours determined by student and school needs\nPosition Summary\nThe Tutor provides targeted academic support to middle and high school students to strengthen content knowledge, improve academic skills, increase student confidence, and promote successful completion of coursework. The Tutor works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school administrators to provide individualized or small-group instruction aligned with classroom expectations and student learning needs.\nThe successful candidate will create a positive, supportive learning environment; use a variety of instructional strategies; monitor student progress; and encourage students to take ownership of their learning.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nProvide individualized and/or small-group tutoring to students in assigned subject areas.\nReinforce concepts and skills taught by classroom teachers.\nAssist students with understanding assignments, developing study strategies, organizing coursework, and preparing for assessments.\nUse appropriate instructional strategies to address varied learning styles, academic needs, and skill levels.\nHelp students develop problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, organization, and independent-learning skills.\nMonitor student participation, progress, and areas of continued need.\nCommunicate regularly with classroom teachers and appropriate school personnel regarding student needs and progress.\nMaintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student participation, and progress as required by the school.\nEncourage students to set realistic academic goals and develop strategies for achieving them.\nProvide constructive feedback that supports student growth and academic confidence.\nEstablish and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and academically focused learning environment.\nSupport students in becoming responsible and independent learners rather than completing work for them.\nMaintain confidentiality regarding student records, academic performance, and other sensitive information.\nFollow all school and district policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.\nAttend required meetings, training, or professional development activities as directed.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications\n

Required:

\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively with middle and/or high school students.\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.\nDemonstrated knowledge or competency in the academic subject(s) for which tutoring will be provided.\nAbility to establish positive relationships with students and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.\nAbility to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families as appropriate.\n

Preferred:

\nAssociate's or bachelor's degree in education, a related academic field, or equivalent coursework.\nPrevious tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or youth-development experience.\nExperience working with diverse student populations.\nFamiliarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools.\nExperience supporting students who need additional academic intervention or enrichment.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nThe Tutor should demonstrate:\nStrong knowledge of assigned academic content.\nAbility to explain complex concepts clearly and in developmentally appropriate ways.\nAbility to differentiate support based on individual student needs.\nStrong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.\nPatience, flexibility, professionalism, and sound judgment.\nAbility to motivate and encourage students.\nEffective time-management and organizational skills.\nAbility to maintain accurate and confidential student information.\nAbility to use technology effectively to support student learning.\nCommitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all students.\nWork Environment and Physical Requirements\nThe position is primarily performed in a school setting and may involve working with individual students or small groups in classrooms, tutoring spaces, or other designated school areas.\nThe employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the school environment.
