Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and NC Educator License, required.
Reports to:
Director of Elementary Instruction Supervises:
Assigned groups of students in grades 3 through 5
Job Description:
The AIG Instructor/Tutor is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students who have been identified as academically gifted. This part-time role involves developing and implementing challenging, enriching learning experiences tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of gifted students. The instructor/tutor will foster an environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning.
Responsibilities, Skills, & Expectations:
Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities, projects, and competitions that promote intellectual growth and creativity. Implement a curriculum that challenges gifted students while aligning with educational standards. Strong understanding of the characteristics and needs of gifted learners. Ability to design and implement differentiated instruction and enrichment activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Works collaboratively with the Elementary AIG specialist, building-level administrators, and classroom teachers to ensure that instruction addresses individual learning needs Shares responsibility for ensuring that students are safe at all times Follows emergency procedures consistent with the district Crisis Response and Emergency Evacuation Plans Maintains confidentiality of student records and concerns Participates in assigned training and workshops Practices and maintains staff-student relationships which foster respect for staff and contribute to the positive self-esteem of the students Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
Evaluation and Measurement of Performance:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support personnel. Evaluations will be conducted at any point and time during the school year and summer programs.
Terms of Employment:
Part-time work schedule to be established by the Director of Elementary Instruction on a year-to-year basis; hourly rate as determined by the Board of Education.
