This is direct teaching, not homework help. We are looking for an educator who can teach beyond standard grade-level curriculum, build deep foundational understanding, and prepare the student for rigorous academic evaluations, advanced reading comprehension, and formal writing assessments. Key Responsibilities Teach advanced reading comprehension, textual analysis, theme identification, and critical thinking across elementary through high school level texts. Guide the student through structured writing: thesis development, essay organization, mechanics, and integrating evidence. Facilitate academic dialogue to help the student practice articulating abstract thoughts, answering open-ended prompts on the spot, and taking constructive feedback. Design engaging 60-minute sessions that work ahead of standard grade expectations. Qualifications & Skills Proven experience teaching or tutoring English (reading, writing, literature) across K-12 grade levels. Experience working with accelerated, advanced, or gifted students is a plus. Strong ability to explain complex literary and grammatical concepts in an approachable, encouraging way. Patient, consistent, and dependable with a supportive teaching style. Must have reliable transportation to meet for in-person sessions at a local public library.
Pay:
$35.00 - $60.00 per hour
