Job Description:
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must establish effective rapport and communication with students and instructors. Responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring sessions in approved subjects and are expected to be flexible and willing to have their work assignments adjusted in order to support the College's program efforts. May be asked to perform a wide variety of tasks in order to support the colleges program efforts including flexibility with work schedule and tutoring material/subject changes.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual and/or group tutoring to students in approved content area. Provide students with clarification of course assignments, lectures and tests. Provide tutoring services in an open lab or self-paced setting. Select and use resource material and/or lab equipment most appropriate to demonstrate study units/workbook assignments. Participate in developing tutoring resource materials when required. Attend tutor training sessions as available. Maintain student tutoring records. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education Associate's degree required; Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred. Experience If degree is not in content area, relevant work experience in related field is required. Experience in a customer facing role required. Experience in K-12 education acceptable, post-secondary tutoring preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to provide quality customer service. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive learning environments for students and collaborative relationships with colleagues. Incumbent must be mindful of and develop solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.
Additional Information:
Tutor positions are temporary, part-time and assigned on a semester basis as needed. Evening and weekend hours may be required. This position requires staff to provide services from the Batavia Campus.
