Posting Details Posting Details Posting Number 0801851 Classification Title Academic Coach Working Title Department Upward Bound Department Contact Email kforte@centralstate.edu Job Summary/Basic Function Job Description The Upward Bound Academic Coach will be responsible for providing academic tutoring to the Upward Bound participants during the after-school tutoring time. Essential Functions Tutor CSU Upward Bound participants Develop appropriate lesson plans to assist and motivate participants in gaining the necessary tools to comprehend the subject matters. Be responsible for using a wide variety of motivational techniques and submit records and documentation as required by the Federal Government. Maintain a daily attendance list. Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to tutor in multiple subjects Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, school counselors, parents/guardians. Demonstrated ability to understand and work with low-income and first-generation clients. Knowledge of issues affecting the academic potential of low income, at-risk, first-generation college-bound youth (bilingual preferred). Ability to conduct academic, educational, and social assessments on program participants as required. Possess strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to administer standardized instruments for college placement of participants. Working knowledge of personal and instructional computing applications required.
