Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and patient ACT English/Reading Tutor to help students improve their scores on the ACT. The tutor will focus on enhancing students' reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and critical analysis skills to ensure they excel in the ACT English and Reading sections. This role requires someone who is enthusiastic about teaching, skilled in test-taking strategies, and committed to helping students achieve their academic goals.Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions to students preparing for the ACT English and Reading sections. Develop customized lesson plans based on individual student needs and learning styles. Teach and reinforce grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills relevant to the ACT English section. Help students enhance reading comprehension skills, critical analysis, and time management for the ACT Reading section. Offer strategies for test-taking, including time management, question analysis, and pacing. Track and assess students' progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adjusting instruction as needed. Assist students in building confidence and reducing test anxiety. Communicate with parents or guardians, as needed, to discuss student progress. Stay current with any updates to the ACT test format and requirements.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus. Prior experience tutoring for standardized tests, particularly the ACT, with a strong understanding of ACT English and Reading sections. Familiarity with the structure, timing, and content of the ACT, including common question types and test strategies. Strong command of English language mechanics, grammar, and reading comprehension skills. Proven track record of helping students improve ACT scores. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively. Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards student progress and challenges. Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled tutoring sessions.Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching certification in English/Language Arts is a plus. Experience with online tutoring platforms and virtual teaching tools (for remote tutoring roles). Strong organizational skills to track student progress and lesson plans.Job Type:
