The Well Tutoring Center is preparing to open in North Alabama, and we're looking for tutors to become part of our founding team. At The Well, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to love learning. We don't believe every student learns the same way, progresses at the same pace, or needs the same kind of support.

Our mission is simple:

Be met where you are. We meet students where they are academically, mentally, emotionally, and physically, then help them build a foundation strong enough to support where they want to go. We are currently accepting applications from prospective tutors as we build our initial team. These positions are intended to begin as The Well officially launches, so applicants should understand that this is a future opening rather than an immediate start date. About the Position The Well is looking for compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable tutors who genuinely enjoy learning and helping others learn. Our tutors may work with students of many different ages and abilities depending on their individual strengths. Tutoring may include homework help, academic support, ACT preparation, college preparation, adult learning skills, and other educational needs. Most tutoring will be conducted one-on-one, allowing tutors to build meaningful relationships with their students and tailor support to the individual learner. You do not have to be a teacher to be a great tutor. This position may be an excellent fit for: College students looking for meaningful, flexible part-time work Retired teachers who miss working with students but don't want to return to a full-time classroom College graduates looking for part-time educational work Experienced tutors Individuals with strong academic skills and a genuine love of learning Anyone who believes they can help a student discover that they are capable of more than they thought Prior tutoring or teaching experience is not required. What matters most to us is that you care about the student sitting in front of you. What You'll Do Depending on your areas of strength and student assignments, tutors may: Provide primarily one-on-one tutoring sessions

• Assist students with homework and current coursework Provide academic support in subjects within your demonstrated skill level
• Tutor students preparing for the ACT Support college entrance and preparation needs Assist adult learners with skills such as computer literacy, budgeting, resume building, job skills, and other educational goals Follow The Well's provided curriculum when teaching ACT preparation or adult learning courses Adapt homework help and academic instruction to the individual student's needs
• Build positive, professional relationships with assigned students Encourage students and help them develop confidence in their abilities Communicate concerns about a student's academic progress or well-being to The Well's administrative staff Complete brief session documentation as required Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students Follow all student safety policies and procedures Our goal is not simply to help a student finish tonight's homework.

Our goal is to help them become more confident in their ability to learn. How We Match Tutors With Students At The Well, we don't expect every tutor to be able to teach every subject. Before being hired, applicants will complete academic assessments designed to determine their areas of strength. Depending on the subjects and services you are interested in providing, assessments may include mathematics and other relevant academic areas. ACT tutors will also complete an evaluation related to The Well's ACT curriculum. Your assessment results, interview, demonstrated skills, and mock tutoring session will help us determine: Which subjects and grade levels you are qualified to tutor Which types of students may be the best fit for you Which services you may provide Your starting pay rate We care more about what you can demonstrate than what a transcript says you can do. You do not need a particular college GPA or degree to apply . ACT Preparation The Well's ACT program uses a structured, four-part strategy curriculum covering the major sections of the ACT. Tutors interested in ACT preparation will be expected to demonstrate the academic ability necessary to work with students across the program. You do not have to be a professional test-prep instructor. We provide the curriculum and framework. What we need from you is the ability to understand the material, communicate it clearly, and help students apply the strategies effectively. Homework Help Homework help at The Well is intentionally different from a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Students receiving homework assistance will be assessed before being assigned to a tutor. We will consider the student's academic needs, current coursework, learning preferences, and goals when determining the best approach. Tutors will not be expected to diagnose students or create an individualized academic plan from scratch. Instead, you will receive the information you need to understand your student's needs and provide appropriate support. Your job is to meet the student where they are. Sometimes that means explaining something a different way. Sometimes it means slowing down. Sometimes it means encouraging a student who has decided they "just aren't good at math." And sometimes it means helping a student realize they knew more than they thought they did. Who We're Looking For We are looking for people who: Love learning Enjoy working with children, teenagers, and/or adult learners Are patient and compassionate Are encouraging rather than judgmental Can explain concepts in multiple ways Are comfortable working with students who may be struggling academically Understand that struggling does not mean incapable Are dependable and professional Are willing to learn and grow alongside their students Can maintain appropriate boundaries with students Are comfortable receiving feedback and working under administrative supervision Want their work to have a meaningful impact Most importantly: We are looking for someone who sees a student—not a paycheck . You don't have to know everything. You don't have to have years of teaching experience. You don't have to have a degree. But you do need to genuinely care about helping another person learn. Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Must demonstrate competency in the subjects you wish to tutor Must successfully complete The Well's required academic assessment(s) Must successfully complete an interview and mock tutoring session Must successfully complete a background check Must be able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students Must have reliable transportation Must be willing to follow The Well's student safety policies and code of conduct Preferred Qualifications The following are helpful but not required: Current college enrollment College degree or higher Previous tutoring or teaching experience

• 16 per hour Starting pay will be determined based on demonstrated academic ability, subjects and services taught, education, experience, and other relevant qualifications.

Tutors are paid biweekly for tutoring hours completed. Flexible Scheduling The Well is designed to be a flexible, part-time opportunity. Our initial operating hours are expected to be primarily after school and into the evening, approximately 2:30 PM-8:00/9:00 PM, with additional opportunities potentially available throughout the week. Tutors will provide their availability and will be assigned students based on: Student needs Tutor qualifications Tutor availability Scheduling compatibility There is no required minimum number of hours. Tutors are not required to remain at The Well between student sessions and may leave between assignments if they choose. Tutors are paid only for hours in which they are actively tutoring a student. Because of this structure, greater availability may provide more opportunities to be assigned students and increase your available tutoring hours. Both in-person and online tutoring opportunities may be available. All tutors are expected to maintain professional boundaries with students at all times.

Tutors may not:

Communicate privately with The Well students outside of approved business channels Provide independent tutoring services to current or former The Well clients outside of the organization Contact students through personal social media accounts Arrange private tutoring relationships with The Well clients Circumvent The Well's administrative process for scheduling or parent communication Parents and guardians remain an important part of the student's educational experience. However, scheduling questions, concerns, and administrative communication will be handled through The Well's administrative staff rather than directly through individual tutors. Parents are welcome to observe tutoring sessions when appropriate. At the same time, we recognize that some students learn best when they have space to work independently with their tutor. An administrative staff member will be present at the facility during in-person operating hours. All tutors will be required to follow The Well's student safety policies and code of conduct and will be required to sign applicable agreements, including a non-solicitation agreement. Our Foundation The Well was founded on Christian principles of compassion, humility, service, integrity, and recognizing the value and dignity of every person. Our faith influences how we serve , but The Well is not a faith-exclusive organization. Applicants of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome. Tutors will not be expected to teach or incorporate Christian beliefs into tutoring.
