Position Pay Range:
$22.00-$26.00 per hour Tutor Doctor Gateway & East Mesa is looking for caring, dependable, and academically strong tutors/teachers to provide one-on-one academic support in reading, writing, math, and intervention. Our students often need more than homework help. Many are working below grade level and need consistent support, targeted instruction, patient reteaching, and lessons that are adjusted to how they learn. A teaching certificate is helpful, but it is not required for all assignments. Primary Areas of Need Our main focus is academic intervention, especially: Elementary reading, writing, phonics, comprehension, and math Middle school math intervention and academic support High school math support, intervention, and occasional homework or study skills support Daytime homeschool support for select students This is an academic tutoring and intervention position. While coaching, camp, music, swim, or activity-based experience may be valuable, this role requires direct experience teaching or tutoring skills. Schedule Expectations Most clients schedule tutoring on weekdays between 3:00-7:00 PM . Tutors may choose the days and times they are available within that window. However, once a tutor accepts a student assignment and schedule, the tutor is expected to maintain that schedule consistently. This role is best suited for candidates who can offer a dependable weekly schedule and avoid frequent changes once matched with a student. A minimum six-month commitment is preferred. Weekend-only availability is not sufficient for this role. Summer tutoring and homeschool assignments may include daytime hours. In-Person Tutoring All in-person tutoring takes place in the student's home. We do not meet at libraries, restaurants, coffee shops, or other public locations. In-person tutors must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to students' homes in assigned service areas.

Tutor Doctor provides an innovative online educational platform for virtual instruction. Tutorials and support are provided; however, online tutors must be willing to learn, use, and consistently teach through our platform.
Online tutors must have:
A reliable computer High-speed internet Microphone/headset or headphones Mouse and/or touchscreen setup with stylus Comfort learning and using online tutoring platforms and digital tools Experience teaching or tutoring in an online setting is strongly preferred. Daytime Homeschool Assignments Some daytime homeschool assignments are available between approximately 10:00 AM-3:00 PM . Daytime homeschool assignments often require special education experience, intervention planning, and the ability to independently create and implement lessons. Some assignments require direct special education experience, not general exposure. Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates should have: Experience teaching or tutoring subjects such as reading, writing, math, study skills, or intervention support A bachelor's degree, current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program, or equivalent subject expertise with relevant tutoring or teaching experience Strong knowledge of the subject area they wish to tutor The ability to explain academic concepts clearly and adjust instruction when a student does not understand The ability to plan and deliver customized lessons based on student needs, parent goals, and assessment data when available Strong written and verbal communication skills Dependability and professionalism The ability to build rapport with students while maintaining structure and academic focus Current college students pursuing degrees in education, math, science, engineering, medical, or other academically strong fields are welcome to apply when they have the ability and experience to explain academic concepts clearly.
