Job Description
The Department of Languages and Cultures is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to work as a French tutor in the Language Hub . Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Make sure to include all required documents listed below as i ncomplete applications will not be considered.
Required Documents:
1. Resume 2. Cover Letter 3. Transcripts 4. Class Schedule 5. 3 References- Tutor students enrolled in French courses , particularly lower-division courses, in person and virtually.
- Complete tutoring certification program, model problem-solving skills and study strategies, assist in curriculum design for Language Hub , and improve personal language skills.
- Participate in the production and dissemination of promotional materials and events .
- Assist in hosting events in the Language Hub.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
- Current UVU student registered for a minimum of 6.0 credits.
- Native or near-native p roficiency in language comprehension , production, and writing .
- Knowledge and a bility to explain, in detail, aspects of French ( grammar, vocabulary, syntax, pronunciation , colloquial usage, etc. ) as covered in French 3050, or equivalent.
- Completion of FREN 3050, or equivalent, with a grade of at least an A-.
- Available to work between 12-15 hours per week, during normal business hours (9:00 am to 5 :00 pm) and possibly some evening hours to be determined. Preferred Qualifications
- Engagement with French -speaking community outside academic setting.
- Majoring or minoring in French .
- Experience in teaching or tutoring.
- Experience in utilizing tutoring services.
- Experience in collating and analyzing data in Microsoft Excel.
- Ethical, responsible, motivated self -starter who needs little supervision after training .
- Ability to adhere to a set schedule , generally 15 to 20 hours per week .
- Evidence of advanced customer service and interpersonal skills.
- General computer s kills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.
