The Department of Languages and Cultures is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to work as a Spanish tutor in the Language Hub . • Tutor students enrolled in Spanish courses, particularly lower-division courses, in person and virtually.
• Complete tutoring certification program, model problem-solving skills and study strategies, assist in curriculum design for Language Hub , and improve personal language skills.
• Participate in the production and dissemination of promotional materials and events .
• Assist in hosting events in the Language Hub.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
• Current UVU student registered for a minimum of 6.0 credits.
• Native or near-native p roficiency in language comprehension , production, and writing .
• Knowledge and a bility to explain, in detail, aspects of Spanish ( grammar, vocabulary, syntax, pronunciation , colloquial usage, etc. ) as covered in Spanish 3050, or equivalent.
• Completion of SPAN 3050, or equivalent, with a grade of at least an A
• Available to work between 12-15 hours per week, during normal business hours (9:00 am to 5 :00 pm) and possibly some evening hours to be determined. Preferred Qualifications
• Engagement with Spanish
• speaking community outside academic setting.
• Majoring or minoring in Spanish .
• Experience in teaching or tutoring.
• Experience in utilizing tutoring services.
• Experience in collating and analyzing data in Microsoft Excel.
• Ethical, responsible, motivated self
• starter who needs little supervision after training .
• Ability to adhere to a set schedule , generally 15 to 20 hours per week .
• Evidence of advanced customer service and interpersonal skills.
• General computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.

) .
