Part-Time Teacher/Tutor Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley | $21-$26 per hour At Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley, teachers get to focus on the best part of teaching: connecting personally with students, helping skills click, and watching confidence grow. Our curriculum and instructional materials are already prepared. There are no units to design, no curriculum to build, and no take-home lesson planning. You arrive ready to teach, and we provide the materials, technology, training, and support you need. Personalized, One-on-One Instruction Every Sylvan student has an individualized learning plan based on their specific academic needs. A teacher may have up to three students at a table, but the students are not receiving the same lesson. The teacher rotates between them, providing focused one-on-one instruction while the other students complete independent work within their individual plans. This model allows teachers to connect personally with students while helping each child make meaningful academic progress. Depending on the subjects and grade levels taught, qualified candidates may include: Current or former certified teachers College sophomores or beyond who are majoring in education Candidates enrolled in an alternative teacher-certification program Experienced tutors, private-school educators, or college instructors Candidates with strong backgrounds in math, writing, STEM, study skills, or test preparation Qualifications vary by Sylvan program. Teachers are assigned only to the subjects and grade levels that match their education, experience, and subject knowledge. Schedule This is a part-time, in-person position at our Maple Valley center. Instruction is offered Monday through Thursday during afternoon and evening hours. Teachers receive a consistent weekly schedule based on their availability and our students' needs.
