Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a lively and engaging Mascot Performer/Handler to join our local senior hockey club. This role involves entertaining fans of all ages, especially children, during our home games and creating a fun, energetic atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have experience in hockey or figure skating, be comfortable on ice, and enjoy interacting with crowds. You will work closely with a handler, with the possibility of rotating between mascot performance and handling duties. This is a paid position designed to enhance the fan experience at our games. Responsibilities Perform as the team mascot during approximately 18 home games throughout the year, each lasting around 2-3 hours. Engage and entertain fans of all ages, with a particular focus on entertaining children, through energetic movements and interactions. Work alongside a handler to coordinate performances and ensure safety during mascot activities on and off the ice. Demonstrate proficiency in ice skating, ideally with at least two years of hockey or figure skating experience, to move confidently on ice during performances. Maintain high energy levels and enthusiasm throughout each game to foster a lively game-day environment. Participate in fan engagement activities such as photo opportunities, meet-and-greets, and promotional events as required. Adhere to safety protocols and team guidelines to ensure a fun yet safe experience for all attendees. Qualifications Prior experience in hockey or figure skating is highly preferred, with at least two years of skating experience. Ability to skate confidently on ice for extended periods during games. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to entertain and engage diverse audiences, especially children. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with active crowd interaction. Reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for sports entertainment. Ability to work collaboratively with a handler and team members to deliver seamless performances.
