JOB DESCRIPTION
The Soccer Referee ensures safe, fair, and fun play by enforcing game rules and maintaining control of youth soccer games at the Five Oaks on Warson sports fields and affiliated locations. The City of Olivette is accepting applications for Soccer Referees who will officiate youth soccer games in accordance with league rules and policies, while promoting sportsmanship and a positive experience for all participants.LOCATION

This is a part-time position that works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends not to exceed 29 hours per week.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Officiate youth soccer games by enforcing rules in a consistent, fair, and respectful manner.
- Provide clear communication with players, coaches, and spectators.
- Ensure player safety by monitoring game play and field conditions.
- Arrive punctually and prepared for each assigned game.
- Handle disputes or conflicts calmly and professionally; escalate issues when necessary to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintain game-related documentation such as scorecards or incident reports.
- Set up and break down equipment as needed before and after games.
- Support and promote sportsmanship and positive play at all times.
- Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
- Adhere to City of Olivette Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be at least 16 years of age. 2. Prior experience officiating or participating in organized soccer preferred. 3. Knowledge of the rules of soccer, especially at the youth level. 4. Certification through a recognized soccer referee program preferred but not required (training opportunities may be available). 5. Ability to work independently, stay composed under pressure, and manage game pace and behavior effectively. 6. Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid required within two months of employment.WORK ENVIROMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to run, jog, and stand for long periods on grass or turf fields.
- Work is primarily outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with players, coaches, and staff.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to game situations and potential emergencies.
