Non-Exempt Job Summary Under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent and or Recreation Coordinator, the Youth Soccer Referee officiates games and competitions. They explain and enforce rules, assess penalties, signal the start and end of games, stop play as needed and inspect sports equipment prior to the start of games. Referees are also in charge of court set up and take down. Duties/Responsibilities Attend all referee trainings and work all scheduled games. Maintain control of game and represent Lindon Parks & Recreation in a positive manner. Enforce rules and safety precautions of the sport, facility and field. Assist participants, respond to questions and concerns. Court set-up and clean-up. Check equipment prior to game, assure all athletes are equip properly for participation. Maintain a safe and positive work environment. Notify Superintendent or Coordinator of problems and/or concerns regarding facilities, coaches, participants, equipment, coworkers and spectators. Required Skills/Abilities Strong background in the specific sport, referee experience preferred. Knowledge of designated sport and standard rules preferred. Knowledge of standard safety practices. Must be 15 years of age or older. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, department personnel and the public. Ability to maintain control of players, coaches and spectators in a courteous and tactful manner. Hiring Policy Lindon City Corporation in an Equal Opportunity Employer.
