POSITION PURPOSE

: To assist sport officials in keeping score and time during youth and/or adult games.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

: Keep accurate game time using a timing clock. Keep accurate score at league/tournament games. Keep the timing clock in good working order Record team and player names onto score sheets prior to game.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

: Attention to detail. Ability to learn how to maintain and run a timing clock. The ability to write legibly. Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality. Knowledge of sports games is preferred.

ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION

: Exposure to indoor gymnasium conditions including crowd noises and heat or cold. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least a sophomore in high school or have equivalent education or experience. Reliable transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience playing or scorekeeping of sports

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must attend a Timer/Scorer training school.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION

: Duties involve remaining seated for the duration of a game with few break opportunities. May involve physical tasks such as walking/running over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing in place or continual walking, lifting and carrying of moderate to heavy items (including people) on a consistent basis.
