Lee County Youth Development Center (LCYDC) is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Certified Lead Teacher to join the educational team at our Chanticleer Learning Center . This position provides quality educational services to at-risk youth in a structured, supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction, promoting academic achievement, and fostering positive behavioral growth while maintaining high educational standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide high-quality educational experiences for at-risk youth in accordance with Alabama State Department of Education requirements. Organize, plan, and deliver daily instruction aligned with state academic standards and individual student needs. Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to applicable state and federal educational standards. Monitor student behavior and classroom activities to maintain a safe, structured, and productive learning environment. Differentiate instruction and provide individualized assignments and educational programs based on each student's academic abilities and learning needs. Utilize consistent, fair, and appropriate classroom management and disciplinary practices. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and effective instructional practices. Coordinate with fellow teachers regarding instructional planning, scheduling, educational activities, student interventions, and educational field trips. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other educational meetings as required. Communicate effectively with counselors, administrators, supervisors, and support staff regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and daily operations. Maintain accurate educational records, documentation, and student progress reports. Report directly to the Education Coordinator and/or Director. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate (Secondary Education) in any secondary content area. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a closely related field. Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and classroom management. Ability to establish positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds. Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with at-risk youth, alternative education, juvenile justice, or non-traditional educational settings. Familiarity with Edmentum (Plato) and/or ACCESS instructional platforms. Experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse academic and behavioral needs. Knowledge of trauma-informed educational practices is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout classrooms and campus facilities. Ability to supervise students in classroom and outdoor settings. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Why Join Lee County Youth Development Center?
