TITLE:
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
(CTE) TEACHER- Business
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Plan, prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate a quality competency-based CTE curriculum leading to the development of student skills sufficient to qualify for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education using effective instruction with all students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned. Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community. Must have demonstrated success in working with a variety of students. Ability to utilize technology for instruction, data and analysis, and administrative purposes.

Building Principal and Director of CTE Programs
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate knowledge of subject/content area related to career exploration; hold high expectations for student achievement and demonstrate effective teaching practices Use multiple student data elements to assess student progress, modify instruction and improving student learning Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the instructional program Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional development opportunities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in course areas Assists in the development and implementation of school division and state CTE initiatives, program articulation, and career pathways Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment to promote effective student behavior and success Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management Assist in the development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative CTE program Develop community and industry partnerships for students Demonstrate a professional commitment to CTE innovation Maintain and submit appropriate records of CTE program completers, grading, distribution of awards, and submit information/records including student progress for all students Participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the CTE program and makes recommendations or revisions as necessary Order supplies, instructional materials, and equipment necessary for the program Provide information and counsel students relative to employment, career opportunities, and further education Participate in division, regional, and state CTE meetings Work cooperatively with the CTE teachers and building administrators Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract Share with other staff members the responsibility for school activities and student supervision Implement and comply with division policies and procedures Perform appropriate tasks as designated by the principal relating to the responsibilities listed above
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to the assignment Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices Knowledge of and skills in implementing various formative and summative assessments Knowledge of entry-level positions for students; potential career opportunities; and post-secondary educational opportunities in the CTE-technical program area Skilled in Microsoft curriculum and industry certification Skills in effective planning and implementation of lessons based upon individual student needs Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior Skills in data analysis to assess, monitor, and inform instruction for student growth Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record-keeping Ability to operate a computer and the skills to learn and utilize software and other technology in instruction Ability to articulate and implement the State Standards Ability to effectively address and meet a wide range of academic, social and developmental needs for all types of learners Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other professionals in a team setting Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administrators Ability to maintain confidentiality
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Hold a valid Virginia driver's license.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten-month contract (200 days). 2026-2027 Salary Scales have not been approved by the Waynesboro School Board.
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent following school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluations of administrative personnel.
