Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
National Interpreter Certification (NIC), EIPA, or equivalent required Proven experience in school settings, particularly with renewal or repeat placements Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and an in-depth understanding of interpreting in academic contexts Strong interpersonal skills to foster professional relationships with students, staff, and families Ability to adapt communication style to meet the unique needs of individuals and classroom environments Knowledge of Deaf culture and current best practices in educational interpreting
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear two-way communication between students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and staff or peers Support students' access to curriculum and class participation through effective interpreting Collaborate with educational teams to monitor student progress and provide input consistent with IEP/504 plans Participate in school activities or meetings as required, ensuring appropriate communication access at all times Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards set by professional organizations Imagine making a meaningful difference each day while expanding your professional skills in a dynamic school environment.
