Job Description

The Plainedge School District seeks qualified candidates to fill a leave replacement position as an English Language Arts Teacher in the High School from August 27, 2026 - November 30, 2026.
Candidates must be able to:
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction based on the New York State Next Generation ELA Learning Standards Develop and implement lesson plans that support literacy development, critical thinking, and analytical skills Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs Use a variety of assessment methods to monitor student progress and inform instruction Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student voice and collaboration Integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across all units of study Utilize instructional technology and digital resources to enhance learning Job Qualifications Candidates must have NYS English Language Arts 7-12 certification and requisite NYSED fingerprint clearance.
