Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician is responsible for ensuring the maintenance, repair, and reliability of all processing, packaging, and utility equipment at National Raisin Company facilities. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities and plays a key part in minimizing downtime and optimizing production efficiency. The technician performs preventive, corrective, and reactive maintenance and collaborates closely with other departments to support operations. In the absence of the Maintenance Director, this role supports daily maintenance activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES 1.
Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems across processing, packaging, receiving, dehydrator, and utility equipment (boilers, air compressors). 2. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with motors, gearboxes, electrical panels, PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and power transmission systems. 3. Complete assigned work orders and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely and accurate manner. 4. Conduct weekly inspections and report deficiencies or concerns to the Maintenance Director. 5. Ensure temporary repairs are followed up to completion with permanent corrective actions. 6. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD designs, and electrical schematics. 7. Document maintenance activities using CMMS and complete daily logs per company policy. 8. Ensure compliance with company safety and food safety standards. 9. Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment or retrofits. 10. Collaborate with internal teams and contractors on small and large projects. 11. Acquire tools, materials, and documentation for planned or unplanned maintenance work. 12. Perform any other duties assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge:
Minimum 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Formal training or certification in electrical/mechanical technology preferred. Working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, control systems, PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), and serial communications. Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, LOTO procedures, and powertrain systems (motors, belts, chains, sprockets, gearboxes). Welding experience (MIG/TIG/Stick) and basic boiler/air compressor knowledge a plus. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Skills:
Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues using precision tools and diagnostic instruments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CMMS systems. Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and regulatory documentation. Proficient in use of hand tools, shop equipment, and precision maintenance tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
Abilities:
Able to lift 50 lbs and meet physical demands of the role, subject to a fit-for-duty physical. Strong problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to work independently. Capable of managing multiple tasks and communicating effectively across teams. Self-motivated, reliable, and safety-conscious with a continuous improvement mindset.
