This position plays a critical role in supporting production, sales, shipping, and customer satisfaction by maintaining reliable inventory systems and helping coordinate the movement of plant material throughout the operation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, operationally focused, collaborative, and capable of leading teams in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Job Summary:
The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory of all plants and materials across the nursery. This role ensures inventory integrity through regular audits, system accuracy, and cross-functional coordination with production, sales, shipping, and operational teams. The Inventory Manager supports operational and sales objectives by providing reliable inventory data, identifying risks such as shortages or losses, and ensuring alignment between inventory availability, production schedules, shipping priorities, and customer demand. This position oversees portions of the order fulfillment process and provides supervision and direction to the Yard Supervisor and Dispatcher to support efficient inventory movement, order preparation, scheduling, and shipment coordination. This role plays a key part in maintaining communication between departments to help ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner. Essential Functions- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory levels for all plants and materials.
- Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain detailed records of all inventory transactions, including incoming deliveries, internal transfers, and outgoing shipments.
- Ensure all inventory data is accurately entered and maintained in Odoo or other nursery management systems, including inventory movements, adjustments, losses, and status updates.
- Generate and distribute accurate inventory reports to management and the sales team in a timely manner.
- Work closely with production and sales teams to align inventory availability with production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Identify and communicate available inventory, future availability, and potential shortages.
- Assist in allocating inventory to sales orders and ensure allocations reflect actual inventory availability.
- Communicate inventory shortages, conflicts, or fulfillment risks to management and support prioritization based on shipping schedules and customer demand.
- Coordinate with production teams to verify crop counts, shipping teams to confirm product movement, and sales teams to confirm product availability.
- Supervise and support the Yard Supervisor and Dispatcher to ensure efficient coordination of inventory movement, order pulling, staging, scheduling, and shipment activities.
- Support and oversee key portions of the order fulfillment process to ensure customer orders are prepared accurately and shipped on time.
- Monitor inventory losses, including shrinkage, damage, disease, and miscounts; analyze trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the General Manager and Production Manager by providing accurate inventory data for operational planning and forecasting.
- Verify inventory accuracy during key production, staging, and shipping processes.
- Ensure audit results are documented and corrective actions are implemented to maintain inventory integrity. Key Responsibilities
- Support process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy, tracking, and reporting.
- Assist in improving communication and coordination between departments regarding inventory status.
- Participate in special projects and operational initiatives as assigned.
- Support training efforts related to inventory procedures and system usage.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management, agriculture, nursery operations, or a related field.
- Experience with inventory systems or ERP platforms (Odoo or similar preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move between office and nursery areas for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and inspect plants and inventory in various locations.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25-40 pounds.
- Ability to work in both office and outdoor nursery environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to use a computer and handheld devices for data entry and inventory tracking.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:
