This position is paid for 100% by federal funds. Should funds no longer be available or the district plan changes, the position may be eliminated to meet the needs of the district.
The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled, passionate Reading Specialist to join our "New Chapter." This is a one-year, high-intensity role designed to provide specialized intervention and diagnostic expertise. You won't just be teaching kids to read; you will be giving them the tools to navigate their world, express their ideas, and achieve their dreams. Role Summary The Reading Specialist is responsible for assessing student needs, designing intensive literacy interventions, and partnering with classroom teachers to elevate reading and writing outcomes. Reporting to the Building Principal and the Teaching & Learning Department, you will use data to drive instruction, document progress with precision, and ensure that every approved student receives the specialized support they need to meet grade-level expectations. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications)
Certified Expert:
Valid Missouri Teaching Certification and an Active K-12 Special Reading Certificate are required.
The Seasoned Educator:
Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience where the teaching of reading was a primary responsibility.
Educationally Prepared:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Literacy or Reading preferred.
Pedagogical Master:
Deep knowledge of current research-based best practices in the field of reading and writing (Science of Reading).
Data Strategist:
Proven ability to gather, compile, and disaggregate data to link assessment results directly to student learning. Your Impact (Key Duties)
Diagnostic Leadership:
Assess student reading strengths and needs, providing clear, actionable data to parents, teachers, and school leadership.
Targeted Intervention:
Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated reading instruction that supplements and extends classroom teaching for approved students.
Collaborative Coaching:
Meet regularly with classroom teachers to align instructional efforts and discuss specific student reading goals.
Environmental Design:
Prepare a vibrant, organized, and resource-rich learning environment that inspires a love of books and language.
Rigorous Documentation:
Maintain meticulous records of interventions and student progress as required by law and district policy.
Monthly Progress Reporting:
Track and report text reading progress monthly to the Teaching and Learning Department and the building principal to ensure program accountability. Your Leadership Partners

Contract Terms:
One-year only contract contingent upon 100% federal funding.

Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule (commensurate with education and experience).
