Updated 08/26/2026 Job Description Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Aeronautical Engineer with expertise in designing, building and flying custom/prototype Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The ideal candidate will thrive in an aviation test and development environment, contributing to the design and testing of innovative aerospace systems and components. Key ResponsibilitiesPrototyping:
Design, develop and enhance additive, subtractive and composite aeronautical structures.Designing:
Utilize with expertise Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and 3D slicing software to design precise UAV parts and components.Additive Manufacturing:
Operate Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Digital Light Processing (DLP) printersSubtractive Manufacturing:
Set-up, run and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery for optimal performance.Composite Fabrication:
With expert knowledge perform and provide guidance on proper lay up techniques and orientation to maximize material properties or part and component strength.Testing and Evaluation:
Evaluate test data with mathematical models to direct material and design utilization.Operational Testing and Performance:
Pilot custom/prototype UAVs in test and operational environments.Compliance and Regulation:
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner (in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets) using personal protective equipment as required. Ability to utilize proper PPE and electrostatic discharge (ESD) techniques for all assigned tasksResearch:
Conduct comprehensive research and deliver expert guidance for the design and implementation of UAVs along with their components tailored specifically for unique and specialized applications.Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with management, engineers and technicians in a dynamic and fast paced team environment to achieve project goals and timelines. Qualifications- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other discipline with a minor in Aeronautical Science
- Part 107 License
- 5+ years documented operational experience testing and performing
- Mastery in CAD SolidWorks and Grab
CAD, CNC
Pattern Smith and CNC Aspire.- 5+ year's experience in FDM printing equipment and material, industrial CNC machinery.
- Proficiency and ability to provide expert guidance in advanced fiberglass and carbon fiber additive processes Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experience filing for US patents
- Robust network of aeronautical experts
- Proven track record of efficient problem solving
- Working knowledge of coding languages (Python, C++, Java, Javascript, C, Swift)
- Experience in running common UAV ground control station software (mission planner, Q Ground Control, Pix4D Capture, UgCS).
