Job Description
Design & Estimating Associate Full-time | Reseda, California | In person About Universal Awning Universal Awning & Shade designs, fabricates, and installs custom awnings, canopies, trellises, cabanas, patio covers, and shade structures throughout Southern California. Because we handle projects from the initial idea through fabrication and installation, our design team gets to see its work become a finished product. What we're looking for We are seeking a creative and technically minded Design & Estimating Associate to support our growing project workload. This person will help turn architectural plans, customer ideas, photographs, and field measurements into clear designs and accurate estimates. The position may be a good fit for someone who studied architecture, drafting, industrial design, or engineering. We are also interested in candidates who have designed products or components in a manufacturing or fabrication company. Responsibilities Create three-dimensional models and project drawings using SketchUp Review architectural plans, photographs, specifications, and measurements Help prepare project estimates, scopes, and material takeoffs Develop designs that can be fabricated and installed Revise drawings and estimates as project requirements change Coordinate project details with sales, production, and installation Maintain organized drawings, estimates, and project information Drawing for city sets. Ideal candidate The ideal candidate understands SketchUp, can read plans and measurements, and pays close attention to details. Professional drafting or design experience is preferred, but recent graduates with strong technical skills and a good portfolio are encouraged to apply.
