In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, 2D CAD drafting, and 3D modeling for product development and system design projects. Your expertise in CAD software and mechanical engineering principles will drive innovative solutions, ensuring designs meet industry standards and client specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex projects across various sectors, utilizing cutting-edge tools and techniques to bring ideas to life with precision and clarity. Responsibilities Develop detailed mechanical drawings and schematics using CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, and NavisWorks. Create accurate 3D models for product design, system layout, and construction projects, incorporating GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards. Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and CAD documentation aligned with ASME codes & standards. Collaborate with design engineers to translate conceptual ideas into detailed technical drawings and models. Assist in the design of mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, and structural components within Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations to evaluate mechanical performance and structural integrity of designs. Maintain organized CAD files within PDM (Product Data Management) software systems for version control and project tracking. Support construction teams by providing accurate CAD drawings and technical documentation needed for fabrication and installation. Contribute to technical writing efforts for project proposals, reports, and user manuals related to CAD documentation. Participate in design reviews, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards while adhering to project deadlines. Experience Proven experience in mechanical drafting, 2D CAD drafting, and 3D CAD modeling within a professional engineering environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles combined with hands-on experience in designing mechanical systems. Familiarity with a wide range of CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, NavisWorks, Bluebeam, and PDM systems. Experience working on piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and system design documentation. Knowledge of GD&T practices along with building information modeling (BIM) tools for construction or facility projects. Understanding of ASME codes & standards relevant to mechanical design and fabrication processes. Ability to perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis), 2D animation for technical presentations or assembly instructions is a plus. Prior construction experience or involvement in technical projects requiring detailed CAD documentation is highly desirable. Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear reports, manuals, or project documentation related to CAD work.
