Job Description

Mark Brand Architecture is seeking a competent, detail-oriented Architectural Drafter/Designer (in Office) to join our small SOMA-based architectural firm. We offer competitive compensation and benefits and are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a hands-on production role on residential projects. Our office is located in a small building with free on-site parking and near public transportation, and we have a cute Shih Tzu named Pepper. Mark Brand Architecture is an established, award-winning firm known for strong architectural design and attentive client service. Our projects are primarily residential and range from remodels and additions to new homes. Most of our work is modern, although we also work on traditional and contextual projects. This position is primarily focused on architectural drafting, documentation, and 3D modeling . Depending on experience and ability, there may also be opportunities to participate in design development. What We Value Strong drafting and technical skills Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Ability to translate sketches, markups, and design direction into clear architectural drawings Good visual and spatial understanding A team-first, can-do attitude Exceptional service to our clients Qualifications The ideal candidate will have experience working on residential architectural projects and be able to contribute productively with relatively limited training. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is important for this position . Experience with residential construction documents, permit sets, existing-condition drawings, detailing, and San Francisco Bay Area permitting is highly desirable. The candidate should also be comfortable participating in field measuring and existing-condition documentation , typically working with another team member to take dimensions, notes, and photographs and then translating that information into accurate drawings. Architectural licensure is not required. Primary Duties Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, and other architectural drawings in AutoCAD Develop and revise residential permit and construction drawing sets Create accurate 3D architectural models in SketchUp Participate in field surveys with another team member, including taking measurements, notes, and photographs of existing conditions Translate field measurements, field notes, sketches, markups, and design direction into coordinated architectural drawings Assist with existing-condition documentation and drawing updates Support project coordination and permit responses under the direction of the Principal Architect Prepare presentation drawings and graphics as needed Assist with design development when appropriate based on experience and ability
