About the Role Excalibur Metal Design is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter / Metal Fabrication Detailer to create accurate, fabrication-ready shop drawings for custom architectural metalwork including railings, stairs, gates, awnings, screens, and custom assemblies. This is more than a CAD operator position . We need someone who understands how things are built and can turn architectural plans, field measurements, photos, and sketches into drawings our shop can confidently fabricate and install. This is an in-person position at our fabrication shop in Nampa, Idaho. Responsibilities Create detailed shop/fabrication drawings Work from plans, field measurements, photos, and sketches Detail dimensions, connections, mounting conditions, and assemblies Prepare approval and fabrication drawings Create/assist with material lists and BOMs Check drawings for accuracy and constructability Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, and installers Qualifications 3+ years of professional CAD drafting/detailing experience preferred Strong AutoCAD or comparable 2D CAD skills Fabrication, miscellaneous metals, structural steel, architectural metals, manufacturing, or similar experience strongly preferred Able to read architectural/construction drawings Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Able to learn new systems and drafting standards quickly Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD experience is a plus Fabricators who have transitioned into drafting are encouraged to apply. Compensation $26-$32/hour , depending on experience and demonstrated ability. Qualified applicants should be prepared to discuss examples of previous work. Final candidates may complete a short paid practical drafting exercise to evaluate drafting ability, attention to detail, problem solving, and fabrication understanding.
