CAD Detailer / Miscellaneous Metals Detailer We are seeking an experienced CAD Detailer to support railing and miscellaneous metal projects across commercial, residential, new construction, and renovation environments. This role is ideal for someone who has strong CAD design skills, understands metal fabrication and installation, and is comfortable going into the field to inspect project sites and gather accurate measurements. In this position, you will work closely with estimators during the front end of the project, create detailed drawings and blueprints, coordinate with fabrication and installation crews, and verify completed work against the designs. A major part of the role will involve visiting active job sites throughout the region to take measurements, review site conditions, and ensure designs are accurate and buildable. This is a great opportunity for someone with a construction, metal fabrication, or miscellaneous metals background who enjoys both design work and field involvement.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed CAD drawings for railings, handrails, guardrails, and miscellaneous metal projects Design railing systems for both interior and exterior applications Review project requirements, scopes, and site conditions with estimators Visit job sites to inspect conditions, take measurements, and verify dimensions Communicate with installation crews to walk through project details and ensure designs are understood Review completed projects against drawings, blueprints, and field measurements Make drawing revisions as needed based on field conditions, estimator feedback, or crew input Support new build and renovation projects across commercial and residential environments Work with various metals including steel, iron, aluminum, stainless, and other miscellaneous metals Maintain accurate documentation for project drawings, revisions, measurements, and final confirmations Travel to job sites throughout DC, Southern Maryland, Prince George's County, and the
Maryland Eastern Shore Qualifications:
Experience creating CAD drawings for construction, metal fabrication, railings, structural components, or similar projects Background with miscellaneous metals strongly preferred Knowledge of multiple metal types such as steel, iron, aluminum, and stainless steel Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and field sketches Comfortable taking accurate field measurements and translating them into buildable drawings Strong communication skills with estimators, project managers, and field crews Construction field experience preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to catch measurement or design issues before fabrication or installation Valid driver's license and good driving record required Comfortable traveling to job sites throughout the assigned territory
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
