BUILD PREMIUM INTERIORS WITH A BALTIMORE TEAM BACKED BY SWISS QUALITY
Display Craft Manufacturing, an Obrist America company, combines Baltimore craftsmanship with the precision and international reputation of the Obrist network. For more than 75 years, Display Craft has built custom retail displays, store fixtures, cabinetry, commercial millwork, and interior environments. As our U.S. manufacturing presence grows, we are looking for a Technical Drafter / Product Detailer / 3D CAD Designer who can turn ideas, renderings, and architectural drawings into accurate, buildable production documentation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role develops detailed 3D models, shop drawings, product details, and production-ready documentation for custom millwork, cabinetry, retail fixtures, hospitality, service, and premium interior environments. You will collaborate with designers, architects, project managers, production leaders, and vendors to make sure each custom product is engineered correctly, approved efficiently, and handed off clearly to the shop. The best fit is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working where design, engineering, and manufacturing meet.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Use 3D modeling and CAD software to interpret designs, architectural drawings, engineered drawings, sketches, and renderings. Create accurate shop drawings, models, details, assemblies, and production documentation for custom cabinetry, millwork, fixtures, and interior elements. Develop designs from scratch when required and adapt existing renderings, standards, and prior project details when appropriate. Collaborate with project managers, designers, architects, builders, vendors, and shop-floor team members throughout the manufacturing process. Submit shop drawings for customer approval, track revisions, and maintain accurate documents through the manufacturing process. Review product designs for constructability, structural integrity, safety, materials, hardware, and manufacturing feasibility. Prepare clear buildable packages for production, including details that support fabrication, assembly, finishing, shipping, and installation. Inspect work during production and help resolve questions or changes as they arise. Maintain project notes, design changes, and technical references for future production needs. Participate in continuous improvement and ongoing technical learning to expand capabilities.
WHAT YOU BRING
5+ years of product design, drafting, detailing, or engineering experience preferred. Experience with 3D modeling for furnishings, fixtures, cabinetry, commercial millwork, architectural millwork, or carpentry-related products. Strong working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD 3D, parametric design software, or similar programs. Ability to read, understand, and translate architectural and engineered drawings into manufacturable shop drawings. Background in a manufacturing, production, millwork, cabinetry, store fixture, or custom product environment preferred. Knowledge of cabinet construction, woodworking, laminates, veneers, solid surface, glass, metal, hardware, and shop processes is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with designers, architects, builders, vendors, project managers, and production teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; Adobe software experience is helpful. Ability to manage revisions, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Office-based technical role with regular production-floor interaction. Ability to inspect work in progress, review details with production teams, and participate in shop-floor coordination with or without reasonable accommodation.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer 100% company-paid full family health insurance, dental, vision, paid holidays, paid vacation/PTO, sick days, and 401(k) or pension. You will see your work move from screen to shop floor to finished premium interiors, while working with a team that values precision, practical problem-solving, and long-term craftsmanship.
