Alcohol and Drug Counselor

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling, mental health support, and case management to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery journeys, utilizing evidence-based therapies and personalized treatment plans. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual treatment needs. Develop and implement tailored treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied behavior analysis techniques. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and behavioral management strategies. Utilize crisis intervention skills to manage acute situations effectively, ensuring patient safety and stabilization. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and HIPAA-compliant records in electronic medical records systems. Requirements Bachelor's or master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as an addiction counselor preferred. Proven experience in addiction counseling, mental health therapy, or behavioral health settings—hospital experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and crisis management techniques. Excellent patient assessment skills combined with case management capabilities for individualized treatment planning. Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively while managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments. $24.33 - $29.30 per hour
