Job Description

Title Manufacturing Engineer I Department Engineering Reports to Engineering Manager Summary This position is responsible for providing manufacturing support to all departments within Laser Dynamics. The primary focus is creating and maintaining engineering data used to fabricate product. This position is the first level of technical drafting work, typically requiring completion of a formal drafting program and no drafting experience. Work assignments are varied but limited in scope and complexity. Essential Job Functions/Duties Incumbents break down information obtained from specifications, sketches, customer layout drawings, and instructions furnished by others and convert the information into detailed drawings with dimensions. Incumbents have responsibility for coordinating with others to determine whether drawings can be executed efficiently and within expected tolerances. Supervision is readily available, and work is usually reviewed by more experienced staff. Generates detailed mechanical drawings, solid models, bill of materials, jigs & fixtures as needed Necessary C.A.D. skills - Recent Solidworks & AutoCAD experience Necessary computer skills - Proficient with Microsoft Office products Comprehensive understanding of drafting practices and blueprint reading Individual time management skills General understanding of manufacturing processes Analyze and solve problems by gathering and interpreting data Adheres to all department standards and procedures Identify possible quality issues and suggest the corrective action needed according to LDI's quality assurance system Reviewing work products from in-house engineering and outside consultants to assure conformance with company policies, objectives, accepted standards / appropriate engineering guidelines and procedures. Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities. Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required. Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards. Other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Degree Educated in a relevant field or relevant experience with equivalent qualifications. Blueprint reading, shop mathematics and ability to read a micrometer and caliper are required. Computer Literate. Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
