Job Description
Role and Responsibilities JMS Southeast is a small, growing company built on our ability to turn custom engineering challenges into finished temperature sensor designs. Our customers come to us because we can deliver what larger, slower organizations cannot: creative, high-quality custom solutions in days, not weeks or months. We are looking for a CAD Draftsman to join our engineering department, turning engineering concepts and customer requirements into accurate, production-ready models and drawings in Solid Edge. What You'll Own Produce accurate 3D models, part drawings, and assembly drawings in Solid Edge for custom temperature sensor designs scoped to customer requirements Translate engineers' sketches, notes, and verbal direction into clean, dimensioned CAD drawings, creating and maintaining BOMs and related content in the ERP system Collaborate closely with engineers to work through complex modeling and drafting challenges as they arise Follow and help refine CAD drafting standards, workflows, and best practices within Solid Edge to ensure quality, consistency, and speed across all deliverables Check and redline your own and others' drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards before release Manage your own drafting queue against project deadlines, flagging conflicts or capacity issues early Support the design and creation of new tools and jigs as needed, and flag process or tooling gaps that slow down the team Bring craftsmanship to every drawing, treating fast and right as equally important Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, purchasing and sales to answer drawing questions and keep customer commitments on track Qualifications and Education Requirements Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude — you understand how things are made, and your drawings reflect that Practical proficiency in Solid Edge or similar CAD systems (minimum 2 years) with a strong command of modeling standards, part drafting, and assembly workflows—machined part experience a plus Hierarchical CAD library file management skills a plus Proven experience producing production-ready drawings in a professional or educational setting Strong organizational instincts and clear, proactive communication when priorities shift The initiative to catch questions or errors early and raise them rather than guessing Willingness to take direction and feedback from the engineering team, and to learn our specific drafting standards quickly Benefits Full medical, dental benefits, 401k with match, paid time off
