Job Description
SES is seeking a CAD/BIM Technician to support our team through digital modeling, earthwork takeoffs, and 3D site design. This role is central to how we plan and sequence our excavation, demolition, and underground utility work - turning design plans into accurate, buildable models that guide our crews and inform our bids. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain 3D surface models for earthwork operations, using Civil 3D, Agtek, and Carlson software Perform earthwork quantity takeoffs (cut/fill) to support estimating and bidding Create BIM models from architectural, structural, and civil drawings for demolition planning using Civil 3D and Revit Create models of underground utility networks using Civil 3D Coordinate and reconcile design surfaces across disciplines (civil, utility, grading) Import and process survey and GPS data to build accurate existing-conditions models and analyze earthwork production Generate machine-control models/files for Topcon GPS-guided earthmoving equipment Support project managers and estimators with quantity reports, staging plans, and site logistics visuals Review civil and architectural plans for constructability and flag discrepancies Maintain organized CAD/BIM project files and drawing standards Collaborate with field crews, surveyors, and engineers to keep models current as projects progress Participate in bid review meetings where communication of earthwork analysis, structural demolition sequencing, or utility conflict resolution is necessary Qualifications Proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit, and Navisworks required; experience with BIM modeling/coordination strongly preferred Demonstrated experience performing earthwork takeoffs and cut/fill analysis Understanding of grading, site design, and underground utility plan sets Experience with Topcon GPS machine control software a plus Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project models simultaneously Good communication skills for coordinating with estimators, PMs, and field staff What We Offer Competitive salary, commensurate with experience A key role connecting design, estimating, and field execution Opportunity to work across excavation, demolition, and utility construction disciplines A collaborative, experienced team with decades of regional site work expertise
