A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description Job Description Job Description Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES), a fast-growing site development, excavation, and underground utility contractor established in 1985, is looking for an experienced Layout Engineer with strong GPS and surface modeling experience to support our civil construction projects. About the Role You'll provide field layout, GPS control, surface modeling, topographic mapping, and as-built documentation for site work, grading, underground utilities, and demolition projects. You'll work closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep projects accurate and on track. What You'll Do Perform construction layout and staking for site work, grading, excavation, utilities, and demolition Establish and maintain jobsite control points, benchmarks, and GPS localizations Operate GPS rover/base systems, total stations, and lasers to transfer plans to the field Create surface models, topographic maps, and utility/surface as-builts Review plans and drawings to catch discrepancies before work begins Communicate layout data clearly to field and office teams What You Bring 3-5 years of experience in construction layout, surveying, or field engineering (civil, site work, or utility construction preferred) Strong GPS and surface modeling experience. Topcon GPS/Total Station experience a plus Ability to read civil/utility drawings and construction plans High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills Valid driver's license with a clean record Familiarity with Topcon Office, Carlson IntelliCAD, Pix4D, Agtek, or Bluebeam a plus Drone pilot license/mapping experience a plus Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management preferred, but equivalent field experience is welcome Why SES Competitive pay and a full benefits package: 401(k) with company match, paid holidays and PTO, medical/dental/vision, and disability and life insurance.
