Tent works on a wide variety of biogas projects, including biogas generated from landfills, dairies, wastewater treatment facilities, and food waste/organics recycling. Tent provides full-service engineering services from feasibility to design through ongoing operations engineering on projects such as: Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities, renewable power generation, biogas treatment, manure processing, and biogas collection. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Process CAD Designer to join our growing team at our Portland, OR office to support mechanical and process engineering design for renewable biogas projects.
What you will be doing:
You will be working in an exciting and constantly changing environment consistent with small and dynamic engineering firms. You will work directly with Tent's experienced engineers and project managers to produce the drawing packages that carry our projects from concept through construction and into operations. This is a 2D-focused design role with no required travel.
Responsibilities will include:
Produce and revise 2D deliverables in AutoCAD — P&IDs, PFDs, equipment and piping layouts, general arrangements, preliminary concept drawings, bid packages, and construction packages Turn engineer markups, sketches, vendor drawings, and client comments into issued drawings Review 3D models and drawings produced by outside design partners, providing feedback and direction back to them on behalf of the project team Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, layers, and external reference (XREF) structure across multi-discipline drawing sets Track drawing revisions and issue history through concept, 30/60/90%, IFB, IFC, and as-built phases Prepare as-built drawings from field markups and redlines provided by project teams Coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams Adapting to changing project needs and priorities If you are self-motivated, adaptable, eager to learn, and are comfortable in a fast-paced environment, Tent Engineering is a great place for you.
Requirements:
5+ years of CAD drafting or design experience, preferably on process, industrial, energy, oil and gas, semiconductor, or water/wastewater facilities Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D Ability to read and draft P&IDs and PFDs, with a working understanding of process and piping symbology, line numbering, and instrument tagging Working familiarity with 3D plant modeling sufficient to review models and drawings produced by others and provide informed direction — hands-on modeling is not required Able to work from engineer markups with limited direction and manage multiple active projects Two-year associate degree in drafting or design technology, or an equivalent combination of training and experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Experience with biogas, RNG, natural gas processing, or gas compression facilities AutoCAD Plant 3D or comparable platform experience Bluebeam Revu Experience coordinating drawing production with outside design partners or subconsultants Adaptability and flexibility Excellent written and verbal communication skills
