Job Description
Process Engineer IIIAbout the Role We are seeking a Process Engineer III to support the scale-up and commercialization of new specialty chemical products while driving improvements across existing manufacturing operations. This position will play a key role in transitioning products from pilot-scale development to full-scale production, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and R D teams to optimize process performance, improve yields, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives within a batch chemical manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities + Lead process scale-up activities for new product introductions from pilot production through commercial manufacturing. + Monitor and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data for critical manufacturing processes. + Drive improvements in yield, cycle time, quality, throughput, and overall manufacturing efficiency. + Investigate process deviations, product failures, and nonconforming material reports (NCMRs), performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. + Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing procedures, batch records, and work instructions. + Troubleshoot process equipment, including pumps, piping systems, valves, mixers, and environmental control systems. + Support process validation, batch qualification, and operator training activities. + Lead or support capital equipment and process improvement projects. + Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and calibration compliance. + Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities related to equipment modifications and process improvements. + Support plant EHS initiatives, regulatory compliance efforts, auditing activities, and waste management programs. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and long-term manufacturing performance. QualificationsRequired + Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. + 3+ years of chemical process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment. + Experience supporting chemical synthesis processes, preferably batch manufacturing operations. + Hands-on experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC). + Root cause analysis and corrective action experience. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Familiarity with P&IDs, process controls, pumps, piping systems, control valves, mixers, and related process equipment. Preferred + 5-8 years of Process Engineering experience. + Experience scaling new products from pilot to commercial production. + Capital project leadership experience. + Experience with NCMRs, CAPA programs, and quality systems. + EHS and regulatory compliance experience. + Operator training and process validation experience. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of West Haven, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $130000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Bonus Annual performance bonus program. Based on company, business unit, and individual performance. Paid annually around March/April. Historically paid at or above target in most years. Time Off 25 PTO days to start (16 PTO days + 9 holidays). 30 PTO days after 5 years. 35 PTO days after 10 years. Retirement 401(k) with 100% company match up to 4%.
