at thyssenkrupp Crankshaft Co., LLC in Danville, Illinois, United States Job Description Company thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry. Your responsibilities Responsible for process improvement Planning and execution of special projects Providing Maintenance suport Responsible for redesign or modifications of existing tooling and fixtures Conduct prerelease design studies and process reviews to ensure efficient manufacturing methods are implemented Design of manufacturing layouts Coordinate assigned manufacturing projects (CNC turning and milling, heat treat, grinding, etc.) regarding concept, deigns, quotations, project and resource planning, process documentation, implementation, and employee training Act as liaison between manufacturing, quality, sales and customer service Participate in process improvement, cost reduction, and capital expenditure projects Utilize and implement lean techniques such as 5S, Six Sigma, 8D, etc. Daily tracking of tooling and consumables used Conduct PFMEA's Walks plant floor addressing issues and working with operators to improve efficiency Offering maintenance downtime support Account for scrapped parts and parts in quality hold Address safety aspects of the line and where process improvements can improve safety Make necessary drawings and measurements Create work instructions Nature of tasks may vary depending on assigned line (1-4) Other responsibilities and projects as specified Your profile Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems engineering or related field with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering position in machining OR 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering position in machining Mechanical Engineering background with knowledge of strength of materials, jig fixture design, programming, machine operation, automation, material science, and metallurgy Understanding of blueprint reading and GD & T interpretation Knowledge of machine tooling Understanding of process capability analysis Strong mathematical ability, specifically statistical ability Extremely detail-oriented Excellent oral and written language ability Analytical Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Ability to use and navigate machine controlling software The [above] is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
